sickkk
thats a sick spot
Is this deadhorse lk Alberta? Looks fun...
The bails cracked me up 😂
For 200, probably be cheaper to check out the local shop
Go for it. Let us know how it goes. Time, cost and performance.
Man sick video we need some snow on our lake just sheer ice right now
Similar conditions here in Minnesota this year. We actually make a kit for riding ice called the Switchblade. Check it out here: kiteboardonice.com
@@TheRealJeremyJones sick man. you using a head mount here or chest? gonna make a vid when we get snow here
You should have the guitarist and drummer inset in the corner of this video jamming away.
OMG....Big FAN of your epic snowboarding videos (Dahhh who isnt)...even love everything you have done with Cody Townsend....but seeing YOU KITE on ice is SICK and I am a kiteboarder...prefer the powder myself!!! P.s you make insanely look so easy with your transitions.....Cheers, and thank you for posting ...1000 islands Canada
Super cool. Does your board have a special edge tube too or you just clamp on the device and go?
Thanks. Nothing special, the Switchblade is mounted by 5 bolts through the base of the snowboard. Works great, for more info check out our site: kiteboardonice.com
Fantastisch 👍
Hi. Do you pump air pressure to your kite normally during snowkiting?
Yeah, normal pressure on inflatables. Ram air kites require no pumping, but I prefer the direct feel from inflatable kites.
Try some power loops!
This looks awesome, but isn't it rare to find ice this smooth? And don't you need smooth ice for this kit?
You can find smooth ice like this shortly after lakes freeze over. The Switchblade kit can handle rough ice with no problems, smooth ice just allows more speed and is more visually appealing.
@@TheRealJeremyJones Thanks!
well done, with the song too. nice session
Looks like fun, but the logistics of trying to tack upwind by making a turn that leaves your body facing into the wind, while you fly the kite behind your body, seems a little awkward, and of course there's a cut in the video where you switched from that backwards orientation to facing the wind so you could make a sliding jibe.
It's a blast! The transitions are the same as on snow or water, heel to toe and toe to heel. I've actually been able to do some transitions that I couldn't do on water like toeside to blindside carves, video coming soon!
+you learn to fly the kite alot by feel so you don’t necessarily need to look at it all the time
@@F2FK_Advantures Not talking about feel, but the fact that when you're on a toe side edge with the wind in your face, the kite is *directly* behind your body and pulling on your harness and arms.. which you know generally point the other direction.
Nice Video!
😮I was really really shocked by the way he just like turned around and I was like oh my gosh
Sweet!
What size kit is that?
11m Ozone Amp 👍
dude this looks great! I have been considering getting in to this for a while but never pulled the pin. any advice for a new starter? I'm a moderate snowboarder and never flown a kite before.
Definitely look into it! It is highly recommended to take lessons. One thing you can do to get started is get a trainer kite and fly it in a field, this will speed things up when you do go to take lessons. The board experience will help as well. Get after it man!
@@TheRealJeremyJones thanks for the reply. Trainer kite sounds good. I might have to get after it!!!!
У нас чуваки в Ижевске тоже летают 🙂
Such sick drone shots. Looks like some serious glass
Is there no way to toe side with wing attached?
There is, my newest video shows toe side and blind riding with a second Switchblade mounted to the board. Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/8Kg2tsJpYhc/v-deo.html
ahhahhaha you even jumped you are CRAZY dude
How was your board after the session? I’ve seen some using ice skates (ice kiting). I would think a snowboard would be ruined on ice
There is a Switchblade kit mounted onto the board. The board is fine since all of the load is on the blade rather than the snowboard edge. You can see close ups of the Switchblade here: www.kiteboardonice.com/
how fast is the wind?
fast enough ! :)
Wind was 15-20mph. Was quite powered on the 11m Amp. Made for some fast runs!
What snowboard do you recommend for snowkiting?
Usually the same board you use for downhill works for snowkiting. I look for a twin because you will be riding it both ways and full camber to make sure it has an aggressive edge. For Ice kiting with the Switchblade I look for these same features but a little shorter than I would use otherwise.
@@TheRealJeremyJones I never snowboard or even been in snow in general. I'm moving to minot nd from south Mississippi. Been kiting for 12 years so I figured a snowboard would be easier to learn then skis. But I have no clue when it cones to snowboards lol
That's gotta be rare to find a frozen lake with no snow on it
It's more common than you'd think. A lot of times it's early in the season but sometimes you get a bad year for snow. Either way it is good to get a session on the kite.
@@TheRealJeremyJones cool! I'm in Nova Scotia. Usually by the time it's safe to skate on the ice, it's already covered in snow
🤘🎸
What's the procedure to stop?
Same as on snow or water. Edge further into the wind while bringing the kite up. I have more ice kiting videos that show transitions and carves, check them out!
How do you have an edge for ice?
There is a Switchblade kit mounted to the heelside of the snowboard. You can find more info here: www.kiteboardonice.com/
My man that's just amazing
can you go upwind though ? I know that edging on an ice patch while snowboarding is almost impossible, so how about there against the kite ?! you must have very sharp rails ^^ looks very nice anyway. Edit : i ve just seeny our video about te switchblade kit ! Im surprised this small edge is enough to go upwind, amazing.
Hey Bertrand. Yes! With such little resistance the Switchblade allows very steep upwind angles! I'd say it's comparable to the hydrofoil in water. Possibly even steeper as you do not need the speed to stay on plane. The contact point of the blade itself is quite sharp so that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!🍻
Funny- I’m on my first winter with a switchblade, after regular snowboard on frozen lakes. It has opened up my riding options, beyond good snow cover. My question is now, how do you go downwind 😊
This awesome, I'll Have to get a Kite!!!
High price to pay when and if you crash.
Only if you crash from jumps
Belle vidéo paysage magnifiques 👍
I saw that you have a video with a 2013 Edge. What are the main differences between the old model and the newer versions?
The other Edge is a v9, 2018. Some noticeable changes to the v10 are tighter turn radius and less bar pressure. I have the 11m and 15m and they are my go to for boosting and snowkiting👍
Less resistance than water? Smaller kite ?
how’s the wind and speed upwind angle?
Wind speed was around 12mph in this video. You nailed it, it is very similar to the hydrofoil in water so smaller kite and very steep upwind angles.
Is this necessary for snowkiting?
The Switchblade is used for extra traction when on ice or loose/patchy snow on ice. If you have enough snow it is not necessary.
This is how you edit/produce a video of this nature! All the different camera angles really gave us a sense of speed and excitement! Very refreshing from the other 900 videos where the selfie stick GoPro is pointed at the face of the kiter. (Look at me mom!) Seriously I watched it twice. I have a Hydra 420 trainer kite and snowboard I'm dying to try out, no 3rd line attachment just the bar. Not sure how well it'll work out but I am sure I'll get blown around so should be fun either way. Your video is getting me psyched!
You are what I would call a kite junkie
Is this even real?
Hollywood Ice!
That was awesome 👊🏼
too cool
so sick, smoothest glass ever.
Amazing Jeremy, one question where is that beautiful lake and what kitesurf level you think is necessary to start icekitesurfing? Thanx and keep It Up!
Thanks! This is on Gull lake in Minnesota. I'd say if you're riding upwind on snow or water then you're ready for Ice.
@@TheRealJeremyJones Thanx a lot man, amazing, cheers from Spain!
Beautiful stuff 😉👍
Nice black ice. You are lucky to play in such comditions this year. We didn't have any ice this winter so no icekiting season at all :(
Yes we got lucky here with a couple really good black ice sessions. Bummer to hear that, hope you get some next time around!
